With the 5850 CNC Wood Lathe, students can create parts using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM), practice computer numerical controlled (CNC) code programming and editing, and apply the machine code language and computer software interface to current lathe technology.
The CNC Wood Lathe also can be used to teach students to operate lathe components, controls and tools; identify axis; set a programmed reference zero; and follow the steps necessary to machine a specified part.
The 5850 CNC wood lathe features an interactive controller which enables students to create and simulate their own their CNC programs either offline or on the machine before actually machining a part. The machine body of the 5850 lathes has a slant-bed design and features a low-friction linear slide system. Besides being able to turn wood, the 5800 CNC wood lathe can handle light metals, plastics, and particleboard.
The 5850 CNC wood lathe features two options: a heavy-duty 36-inch bed (Model 5850-00) and a heavy-duty 24-inch bed (Model 5850-10). The chassis of the 5850 lathes is made of solid plate steel. The lathe is manufactured for durability, classroom use, and safety. All CNC wood lathes can be used with Lab-Volt Automation CNC Level 4 software.
